Emma York is a green beauty advocate based out of the United Kingdom that runs the Beautyfolio blog, a place where she can share her love and passion for green and natural beauty in the hope that it helps others discover some incredible brands and products that can change their beauty routine for the better. And because of her fantastic work in educating people to live a more conscious and clean lifestyle, she was chosen to be a judge in the 2022 Clean Beauty Awards. We had the pleasure of having our Superfruit Facial Oil reviewed by her, which is what she had to say about our brand.
"Amazonian Skinfood are an American beauty brand who take sustainability very seriously. They ensure that the plant extracts, oils and butters that go into each formulation are organically grown, wild harvested and extracted from the Amazon Rainforest by traditional communities who value both the environment and heritage which surrounds them. The combination of cold-pressed oils and butters makes for a range of vegan and cruelty-free products that benefit all skin types and are rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins to leave skin looking and feeling at its best. The brand may only have a capsule collection of two products, but they certainly offer a skincare experience like no other, from the moment you receive your parcel to the impressive results weeks after use.
The packaging is where the journey really begins, with beautiful outer packaging that not only looks incredibly beautiful but also ensures that your oil arrives safely in one piece. The striking green bottle is unlike anything in my skincare collection and really reflects the brand’s ethos and dedication to the natural world, as well as the vibrancy of the very ingredients that go into each and every product.
The Superfruit Facial Oil has a minimal 5-ingredient formulation which is naturally high in both vitamin A, C and Omega’s 6 and 9. Passion Fruit, Acai, Cacay, Buriti and Vitamin E work in harmony to balance, even skin tone, brighten and smooth the complexion, nourishing the skin to leave it feeling soft to the touch and moisturised all day long.
What I loved in particular about Amazonian Skinfood’s Superfruit Facial Oil is the texture, as it is incredibly rich yet absorbed into the skin beautifully, leaving my dry skin softer, smoother and intensely nourished all day long, keeping dry patches and flaky areas at bay. It leaves a light sheen on the surface of the skin after use, giving the complexion a healthy radiance and glow that made my skin look like a better version of itself. Despite it’s rich consistency, the Superfruit Facial Oil is non-cosmedogenic so it doesn’t clog pores or feel too heavy on the skin – so great for oilier skin types too.
I used this for a little over 6 weeks and noticed that the moisture levels in my skin was greatly improved. My skin felt softer and less dry with each application, with the effects lasting longer with each day. The Superfruit Facial Oil delivered on all of its promises and the more I used it, the more I reaped the incredible benefits it had to offer.
To say that I loved my first Amazonian Skinfood experience feels like an understatement, with the facial oil giving my dry skin everything it needed to look and feel at its best. The micobiome-friendly formulation made me feel like I was part of something much bigger than just skincare, helping to support a brand who are dedicated to preserving and protecting one of the most biodiverse parts of the world."
